Six habits of a great lawn

Don't cut too short

Mow regularly but never remove more than a third of the grass blade at once. Longer grass shades out weeds, holds moisture and grows deeper, stronger roots.

Keep your blades sharp

A clean cut heals faster and looks better. Blunt blades tear the grass, which stresses the lawn and invites disease.

Water deeply, less often

Early morning is best. One or two good soaks a week encourage deep roots — far better than a light daily sprinkle.

Feed it naturally

Organic, seaweed-based feeds release nutrients gently and improve the soil over time — no chemical spikes, and safe for children and pets.

Tackle moss at the root

Moss thrives in compacted, shaded, damp lawns. Improve airflow and feed in early spring; an organic spring treatment breaks moss down naturally — no raking needed.

Mind the seasons

Lighter, more frequent cuts in spring and summer; raise the cutting height in heat and drought; ease off as growth slows in autumn while keeping fallen leaves cleared.

Seasonal calendar

Feeding your lawn through the year

Early spring lawn feed
Mar – Apr

Early Spring

Strengthen new growth and clear moss as the lawn wakes up, setting it up for a thick, healthy season.

Early summer lawn feed
May – Jun

Early Summer

Feed for resilience and moisture so the grass stays lush and copes with the warmer, drier weeks ahead.

Late summer lawn feed
Jul – Aug

Late Summer

Replenish nutrients after heat stress to keep your lawn green, dense and able to fend off weeds.

Autumn lawn feed
Sep – Nov

Autumn

Strengthen the lawn for winter so it stays greener for longer and makes a quick recovery come spring.
